5 Ways to Grow Your Social Media Audience Organically
I recently posted an Instagram reel explaining why you shouldn’t buy followers. As it turns out, there are a lot of reasons to not buy followers. Instead of buying your followers, a more beneficial approach at growing your audience on social media is through organic methods. I am going to teach you 6 ways to grow your audience organically.
What is organic growth?
Organic growth is the process of slowly and steadily building your audience base through active engagement with potential followers, strategic content marketing, and by providing value to your target audience.
It’s a slower process than buying followers, but it’s also a more sustainable and effective way to grow your social media presence in the long run.
There are a number of techniques you can use to grow your audience organically, but here are a few of my favorites:
Make sure that you’re posting quality content
This is key! If you don’t have anything interesting to say, people aren’t going to want to follow you.
When you are creating content, ask yourself if you would find that content helpful if you were a potential customer. If the answer is yes, then you’re on the right track.
Examples of good content types include helpful or entertaining reels, blog posts, infographics, images, videos, and quotes. Explain your products/services, show your process, give tips, entertain, and be creative! Don’t be afraid to let your brand voice shine.
Use relevant hashtags in your posts
Be strategic with your hashtags. Hashtags are a great way to reach new potential followers who are interested in the same topics as you. When you use relevant hashtags, your content is more likely to show up in searches, and you’ll be able to connect with people who are interested in what you have to say.
On the other hand, if you use too many or too popular, you’re just going to blend in with the rest of the noise. I prefer to niche down while using hashtags considering the new Instagram recommendations of using 3-5. I prefer to use 5-10 based off of my own results. Make them count and try to keep them local and relevant if you’re a small biz.
Engage with your followers CONSISTENTLY
Every now and then isn’t going to cut it in today’s social media game. Respond to comments and start conversations. Like and comment on other people’s posts. Post interactive stories that could easily start conversations.
When you engage with others, they are more likely to engage with you. This is a great way to build relationships and grow your audience organically.
Keep in mind, the point of every conversation your brand has shouldn’t have the sole purpose of gaining a sale. Of course your main goal is to make sales, and down the road that person you are speaking to may decide to make a purchase. But try to put it into perspective-if a brand you follow has a genuine interaction with you and you already see their products being advertised, you are more likely to make a purchase.
It’s all about building relationships and providing value to your target audience. If you can do that, you’ll be well on your way to growing your social media following organically.
Host a contest or giveaway
Contests and giveaways are a great way to increase engagement, reach, and followers. Everyone loves free stuff!
When you’re planning your contest or giveaway, make sure to set some guidelines. For example, you could require participants to follow your account and tag a friend in the comments. This helps to increase your reach and grow your audience quickly. Just make sure that the prize is relevant to your business and target audience.
Collaborate with other businesses and influencers
This can help you reach a new audience and get more exposure for your brand. When you collaborate with other businesses or influencers, make sure that it is a good fit for your brand. You want to make sure that your values align and that you’re working with someone who has a similar target audience.
For example, if you sell eco-friendly products, you could collaborate with an influencer who promotes a sustainable lifestyle. This would be a great way to reach a new audience and get your brand in front of potential customers.
